Glenglassaugh Distillery, Sandend
Glenglassaugh distillery, standing on the Moray Firth coast at the edge of Sandend Bay, is a distillery which lay silent and forgotten for over two decades.
Its heritage stretches back to 1875 when the distillery was founded by Col. James Moir. He ran the distillery with his two nephews until 1892, when Glenglassaugh was purchased by Highland Distillers. After being completely re-built in 1960, the distillery continued to produce whisky until 1986 when it was mothballed.
The distillery sat silent for over 20 years until in 2008 production was restarted. The first whiskies from this resurrected distillery are now available in the gift shop. Experience one of our distillery tours or fill your own bottle of Glenglassaugh from one of our octaves.
