Duff House, with the support of the Friends of Duff House, presents this life drawing class inspired by the 2012 Masterpiece:  The Quarrel of Oberon and Titania by Sir Joseph Noel Paton, from the Scottish National Gallery.

A rare opportunity to practise your life drawing skills with a live model and experienced artists.

Using a diverse range of media on optional surfaces, the tutor Kathryn Sharp will demonstrate and advise on oil paint, etching ink, oil pastels, lytho' crayons, graphite and charcoal using both traditional drawing tools and more alternative mark making techniques.

Most materials are supplied.  Participants will be advised at the time of booking of any additional materials which might be required.

A further class will be held on Saturday 28th April 2012 - tutor Bryan Angus working in pencil and charcoal to look at ways of describing the body in line and tone.

"Is there a book you can't read in public because you will laugh too much? What do you enjoy reading now? Can you persuade someone else, in 5 minutes, to read something they would never normally choose?"

If your answer to the last question is 'yes' and your curiosity has been piqued, then come along and join us for a light-hearted and entertaining look at books.Talk to your heart's content about books you love and in the spirit of World Book Night, bring your favorite book and pass it on to someone else.

World Book Night is a national event backed by publishers and will see 1 million copies of 25 specially chosen and printed books being distributed by 20,000 thousand book givers.

A CHANCE TO ENJOY SALMON AND TROUT FISHING AT THE SECOND DEVERON FESTIVAL 

The Deveron, Bogie and Isla Rivers Charitable Trust are to hold a unique festival in April/May with anglers invited to visit and fish on Deveronside, along side some of their favourite trade manufacturers, who will be hosting some of the festival beats. Central to the festival is the generous donation of the district's famous beats and a trade fair over the course of a weekend on the outskirts of Turriff, Aberdeenshire.  The festival trade fair will open to members of the public at 0900 Sunday 29th at Turriff Angling Association. Regional activities such as festival fishing on donated festival beats will commence at 0900 Monday 30th April 2012 and cease 1700 2nd May 2012.
 
At the festival fair will be a marquee tent promoting everything from the latest angling equipment, wildlife charities, traditional crafts, the Banffshire marine fishing industry, local goods producers and suppliers. At the banks of the river Deveron; leading tackle manufacturers, such as Hardy’s and prominent angling organisations will be demonstrating their latest angling equipment allowing visitors the opportunity to try rods and reels in live fishing scenarios, they will also have instructors that may coach visitors on a one-to-one basis.
 
In addition to the excellent salmon and brown trout fishing, other highlights include the opportunity to try state-of-the-art tackle, meet some of the sport's best known names, watch expert fly-dressing demonstrations and buy art and antiques. During the festival the Trust will be entertaining participants in the evenings with a series of talks, presentations host and the annual Trust BBQ.
