Traditional Boat Building and Restoration Base to be created in Portsoy
Plans to create a traditional boat building and restoration base in Portsoy have taken a major step forward. The Portsoy Organisation for Restoration and Training (Port) - a subsidiary of the Scottish Traditional Boat Festival group - plan to renovate a derelict property near Portsoy harbour. Two feasibility studies - to look at the buildings (which will include sleeping accommodation for visiting groups) and the business planning/operational side - will be complete by the end of March. There will be community, environment and tourism benefits from the development; the project will also provide youngsters with an opportunity to develop their skills and confidence.
