Banff
The cultural centre of the Banffshire Coast, Banff has been a Royal Burgh since 1372, originally attracting the landowners from their country estates for the winter months, and providing a seat of law and local government. The town's legacy of classical homes and commercial premises dating from as early as the 16 th century, mean that is generally acknowledged to be Scotland's most architecturally important town.
Banff is also home to Duff House, a historic building in its own right and used as an outstation of the National Galleries of Scotland.
