A visit to Macduff Marine Aquarium, situated right on the scenic Banffshire Coast, is an absolute "must" for anyone - it is one of the top visitor attractions in the North East and this year was nominated for a VisitScotland "Icons of Scotland" award.

Featuring the sea life of the Moray Firth, the aquarium provides a fascinating insight into our local marine environment - allowing the visitor to explore this beautiful underwater world without even getting their feet wet. The aquarium's  innovative exhibits lead the visitor from the coast, with estuary and rocky shore displays, out to the kelp reef, deep rocky reefs and sandy sea floor. The central kelp exhibit is unique in Britain and holds an amazing variety of fish, invertebrates and seaweeds usually only seen by scuba divers who brave the chilly waters. As well as coming face to face with hundreds of fishy characters, visitors can get a feel for seashore life at the newly upgraded touch pools. There is a live camera link with the gannet colony of Troup Head - visitors are able to see right into gannets' nests and watch developing chicks over the course of the season.

In addition to the exhibits, friendly and knowledgable staff give regular presentations and feed shows throughout the day - don't miss seeing the divers hand feeding the fisth in the kelp tank. Free quizzes and colouring sheets are available for kids and tickets are valid all day.
